I would not expect snow that early, it really depends on the temp if they can make it or not. I would look further north like Snowshoe Mtn or anywhere in the Poconos for snow that early...And I would say about 15 miles and about 30min drive time on curvy road. Hope this helps.

We took the family last year. I am 46 and hadn't skied in 20+ years. My husband 48 had never skied. He took a 1:1 lesson while the kids were in a group lesson and it worked out great.
