Can anyone recommend a place near the border (ideally not a currency exchange window) where they give change in Zim$ ? Maybe a restaurant or something close to the bridge that won't find it weird if I ask for my change back in all the coins? :)

I don't think that will be easy to find, not even in an hour, not if you want a decent exchange rate (and the border is pure horror as it is)

I know credit cards are accepted there, but I want to have some cash on hand too. Any suggestions on what a reasonable amount of cash to have on hand would be? Thanks!

Everything is very expensive, and VISA machines do not always work, so I would suggest USD100 per day and don't forget to take a lot of small bills.
