Large crowds are expected to gather on the sea front of the Isle of Man's capital for a bonfire night fireworks display themed with "music from movies". Douglas Council will start the event at19:00 GMT, with the celebrations on Harris Promenade focused around the area of the war memorial.

There were scenes of chaos in east Manchester on Tuesday night (November 5) as police were pelted with fireworks by a huge group of youths in the street. A large mob of between 20 to 30 teenagers are understood to have built a 'barricade' on Vine Street, in Gorton, with wooden pallets and mattresses.

Police and firefighters were targeted by fireworks, bricks and bottles in pockets of disorder across Scotland.

Lothian Buses withdrew several services across the city due to the antisocial behaviour.

Police Scotland said the force responded to 18 incidents on Tuesday evening as part of Operation Moonbeam. Police said they had responded to “youth disorder” in the Niddrie, Sighthill and Moredun areas of Edinburgh.

Events to mark Bonfire Night are planned across Kent this weekend. There are events planned from Friday through to Tuesday, with highlights including live music and torch lit processions. Visitors have been reminded by Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) to enjoy the events,
