The father of F1 2025 Williams driver Carlos Sainz has withdrawn from the 2025 Dakar Rally after a crash left his car with huge damage.

Sainz's fourth title came when he was 61 — making him the oldest winner of the race — and was the first Dakar victory for German outfit Audi.

Sainz’ teammate in the Ford M-Sport team, Mitch Guthrie Jr., stopped and helped the 62-year-old flip the car back onto its wheels. Sainz was only 3min27sec behind the leader, Toyota’s Yazeed Al-Rajhi when the crash occurred.
