President-elect Donald Trump announced Friday that North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R), who he selected to lead the Department of the Interior, will also chair a newly formed National Energy Council. According to a statement by the Trump administration,

President-elect Donald Trump said on Friday that he was creating a National Energy Council to coordinate policies to boost U.S. energy production that will be led by his pick for interior secretary, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum.

Burgum, in his new role, will oversee a panel that crosses all executive branch agencies involved in energy permitting, production, generation, distribution, regulation and transportation.
