Monte Fire initially started 2:59 p.m. June 17 in San Diego County, California. Since its discovery four days ago, it has burned 1,051 acres. By Saturday morning, a fire crew of 720 effectively contained 65% of the fire. However, investigations into the cause are ongoing.

San Diego County underwent a third day of brush fires Friday near Lakeside as fire crews work diligently to extinguish the flames. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection sent in some of its emergency response forces near Lakeside around 3 p.
