Fast-moving Hurricane Helene is advancing Thursday morning across the Gulf of Mexico toward Florida, threatening an “unsurvivable” storm surge in the “Big Bend” region and damaging winds, rains and flash floods hundreds of miles inland across much of the southeastern U.
