The NYPD is set to deploy dozens of additional officers throughout the MTA overnight starting Monday night as part of the governor’s latest plan to address safety. Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the phased approach subway safety last week during her State of the State address.

Hochul’s state-funded proposal puts NYPD officers on every train for eight hours per night for the next six months.

The deployment will include 300 officers deployed on every overnight train and an additional 750 on stations and platforms, the governor said.

The $77 million initiative will fund six months of overtime for more than 1,000 officers, including 300 cops on overnight subway patrols and 750 in stations and on platforms.
