Explosions were heard and smoke seen billowing over southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital Beirut on Tuesday, as Israel's war with Hezbollah continues.

The Israeli military carried out at least five airstrikes on the Hezbollah-controlled southern suburbs of Beirut on Tuesday, after Israel's defence minister ruled out any ceasefire in Lebanon until Israel's goals had been met.

At least twelve heavy airstrikes have hit areas known to be Hezbollah strongholds in Beirut's southern suburbs, security sources and eyewitnesses said. The strikes came after an Israeli army spokesman sent a warning on the social media platform X to evacuate areas in Beirut's southern suburbs.
