An attack on tourists in India's Himalayan territory of Kashmir this week sparked a new crisis between nuclear armed South Asian neighbours India and Pakistan, with New Delhi blaming militants with "cross-border linkages" for the killings.

Officials said 24 of the people killed were Indian tourists, one was from Nepal and one was a local tourist guide. At least 17 others were injured.

Pakistan says its is “fully prepared to cooperate with any neutral investigators” following Pahalgam attack. Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged gunfire for a second straight day after gunmen killed 26 people in Indian-administered Kashmir’s Pahalgam earlier this week, with India blaming Pakistan for the attack.
