The next mayor of Portland, Keith Wilson, spoke to a crowd of press and onlookers at the Charles Jordan Community Center in North Portland on Thursday afternoon after results showed voters chose him by a landslide.

Voters in Portland, Oregon, have elected political outsider Keith Wilson as their next mayor. Wilson, a Portland native and CEO of a trucking company, ran on an ambitious pledge to end unsheltered homelessness within a year of taking office.

The Portland mayoral race will be decided using ranked-choice voting for the first time, eliminating lower-ranked candidates one by one to reach a consensus choice.

Portland voters have elected a new mayor, and it's someone new to local politics. Trucking company CEO Keith Wilson held his first event as mayor-elect at a place in North Portland that is close to his heart.
