Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan has confirmed that a single case of the Marburg Virus Disease (MVD) has been detected in Biharamulo District, Kagera Region.She assured the public that the country has successfully controlled the spread of the disease.

Tanzania has confirmed an outbreak of Marburg virus disease in the northwestern Kagera region after one person tested positive for the virus following investigations and laboratory analysis of suspected cases of the disease.

The Ministry of Health has warned that Kenya is at high risk of having an outbreak of Marburg Virus Disease (MVD).Public Health and Professional Standard PS Mary Muthoni said significant cross-border movement of people from Tanzania and other countries in the region heightens the risk.
