Murthy emphasized that India's development depends on effort and sacrifice rather than relaxation. Without sustained hard work and extended hours, he believes the country cannot compete with its global counterparts.

Narayana Murthy had caused a stir when he said that one should work six-days a week and for more than 12 hours a day with no work-life balance. And now he added more to the controversy.

In response to criticism, Murthy doubled down on his views, stating that hard work is indispensable regardless of intelligence or talent.

At the CNBC-TV18 Global Leadership Summit, NR Narayana Murthy reinforced his belief in the value of hard work, stating, “In India, there is no alternative to hard work. You have to work very hard even if you are smart. I am proud of having worked hard all my life. So I'm sorry I have not changed my view, I will take this opinion to the grave.”
