The head of the Palestinian Authority has denounced Israel in front of world leaders. He appealed to other nations to stop what he called a “genocidal war” against a place and people that he said had been totally destroyed.

Abbas told the UN General Assembly the authority’s vision for the post-war era in Gaza included allowing relief aid to Gaza, a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and the return of displaced Palestinians to their homes. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas urged the U.N. General Assembly on Thursday to stop the war in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Palestinian Hamas militants, saying Israel had almost entirely destroyed Gaza and it was no longer fit for life.

Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas on Thursday said that Israel must be stripped of United Nations membership for failing to accept a two-state resolution to the Israel-Palestine conflict and allowing the return of Palestinian refugees to their homes.
