Less than a week after chief baseball officer Craig Breslow shipped Devers to San Francisco for four players — none of whom will be present for the Red Sox this weekend — the coincidental scheduling of a once-every-other-year visit from the Sox means they can say hello. Or goodbye.

It stinks that Kyle Harrison isn’t on the Giants anymore. For all of the justified excitement and hubbub about Rafael Devers, the loss of an exciting and promising homegrown pitcher is impossible to ignore.

By taking on the entirety of Devers’ contract, the Giants already owe five players $115 million — three years from now.
