The Texas Rangers are set to call up first baseman Rowdy Tellez to bolster their roster as the second half of the season gets underway.

The Tigers (59-40) have now lost six in a row, their longest skid since they lost nine in a row from June 2-11, 2023. The Rangers (50-49) climbed above .500 for the first time since May 20, when they were 25-24.

Weeks after being released by the Seattle Mariners, Rowdy Tellez will look to get back to the big leagues with the Texas Rangers.

The Rangers selected Tellez's contract from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday and plan to use him in the mix at first base, while Jake Burger (quadriceps) is on the 10-day injured list. The lefty batter could see the majority of starts there as part of a platoon with Ezequiel Duran. Burger is eligible to return July 23.
