Netflix used generative AI in its show "The Eternaut” to produce a complex visual effects scene reportedly 10 times faster than traditional methods.

In a first for the streaming giant, Netflix has confirmed it used artificial intelligence (AI) to generate a major scene in its original sci-fi series The Eternaut. The admission came straight from co-CEO Ted Sarandos during the company’s Q2 2025 earnings call, and it marks a significant moment for the entertainment industry.

The Eternaut” is the first show from the streaming giant to use GenAI, which co-CEO Ted Sarandos called an “incredible opportunity.”
