The United Auto Workers union announced that workers at Ford Motor Company's River Rouge tool and die unit have reached a tentative agreement.

The deal strengthens job security protections and provides skilled trades workers wage parity, according to the union.

The union workers threatened to strike if contract issues, such as job security, wage parity and work rules​ were unresolved by Thursday.
