Coleman played only six years in the NBA, spending three of those with the Jazz when they were based in New Orleans. Coleman’s calling card was his defense as a two-time All-Defense honoree (First team in 1977, 2nd team in 1978). His best all-around season came in 1977 when he averaged a career-high 8.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
Layden, known for a sharp wit and sideline antics, coached the Jazz to their first NBA playoff berth, and also served as Utah's president and general manager.
Early into the 2024-25 NBA season, the Utah Jazz were hit with a brutal season-ending injury in the form of Taylor Hendricks' fractured right fibula and dislocated ankle, ending a promising second year in the league after being the team's top-ten pick from a summer ago.
