Android Studio, the integrated development environment (IDE) for Android app developers, is getting an AI upgrade, Google announced at its developer conference, Google I/O 2025.

This new terminal app provides a full-blown Linux development environment that allows developers to leverage the tools they need to build native apps. That includes Android Studio.

The new feature, called Agent Mode, is part of Gemini in Android Studio, the company’s development environment for designing, building and testing applications for Android smartphones.
