The band is actually doing a state fair trifecta in 2025. They'll also be appearing at the Illinois State Fair , August 16. Def Leppard got their start in Sheffield, England in 1977 when the band Atomic Mass added 18-year-old lead singer Joe Elliott to its lineup. It was Elliott who suggested the band change its name to Def Leppard.
