The EU has shelved its controversial entry-exit system (EES) border control project in nine countries. Officials have reportedly allowed Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Switzerland to delay the planned full implementation of EES.

The Louvre heist has thrown a harsh spotlight on security at museums across France. In July, the culture ministry published a plan with 33 proposed measures, including mapping out the most vulnerable sites, recruiting specialized police officers and adding extra security for particularly at-risk pieces.
