A Person County commissioner is accused of assaulting his wife by pointing a gun at her earlier this month, a warrant issued by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation shows.

Dover's Scott D. Porter, 63, will remain in preventive detention, Judge Sawako Gardner ruled, as he faces a felony domestic violence charge.

According to court documents, Tracy Ellixson was charged Wednesday with communicating threats after telling his wife that he was going to kill her, assault by pointing a gun at his wife, misdemeanor crime of domestic violence and false imprisonment.
