We took the scenic route through South Dakota’s prairie landscape, staying on Highway 14 through Huron, then Highway 281 to Highway 34 to Highway 47, eventually connecting with I-90 at Reliance.

Attracting some 14.7 million tourists annually, South Dakota touts six national parks, some 63 state parks and 16 historic landmarks. Here's a look at a few of them.

“Forever 605 is about letting the wild be wild, not overcrowding destinations, and leaving nothing behind but your boot prints,” said James Hagen, Secretary, South Dakota Department of Tourism.
