Gov. Gavin Newsom will visit Los Angeles on Thursday to announce an effort to redraw the state’s congressional districts — countering a similar move in Texas.

Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) defended the Medicaid cuts that Congress passed as part of President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act, as the lawmaker got heckled by residents in his home district at a town hall Monday night.

At his first in-person town hall since Trump’s megabill became law, Republican Rep. Doug LaMalfa largely defended his vote for the legislation while fielding expletive-laden questions from a hostile crowd.
