Less than 10 hours after President Donald Trump seized control of the Washington, D.C., police force, a man was gunned down in Logan Circle.

President Donald Trump said Monday he is placing Washington, DC’s, police department “under direct federal control” and deploying National Guard troops to the nation’s capital, citing a public safety emergency after an assault on a former government worker.

The White House and D.C. leadership each try to assert that they are in control of the force, even as they emphasize cooperation and shared priorities.
