Coco Gauff’s Canadian Open campaign came to an end in the fourth round as she geared up for the US Open. The world number two had not played since her early exit at Wimbledon, where Dayana Yastremska knocked her out in the opening round.

Mboko is the first Canadian to advance to the quarterfinals in Montreal since Bianca Andreescu in 2019 and is now the youngest Canadian to defeat a No. 1 seed at the National Bank Open.

Coco Gauff made an honest admission following her Montreal exit as the American tennis star admitted that she probably should have played in Washington and tried to kickstart her summer on hard courts in the United States capital.
