California residents living in the 209 area code region will soon have access to the new 350 area code if they are looking to change or get a new number.

The 209 area code was created in 1958 when the Bay Area’s 415 area code was redrawn. According to the NANPA petition, the new area code will meet phone service needs for 31 years.

The 350 area code will be used for new phone numbers that previously would have received a 209 area code.
