HOUSTON - One person was taken to the hospital after a scaffolding collapsed in Downtown Houston. According to the Houston Fire Department, the incident occurred around 12:19 p.m. at Main Street and Rusk Street. Officials say a scaffolding collapsed while people were working on the building.

A scaffolding accident in downtown Houston on Tuesday afternoon has sent a worker to the hospital with injuries, fire officials said.

A video sent to ABC13 showed water gushing from a construction zone area in the roadway, which was slowly becoming submerged.

A worker was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, but is expected to be ok after scaffolding collapsed at a building in downtown Houston.

Officials stressed the importance of fire safety during cold temperatures, when people are more likely to use space heaters. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.

HPD said the people inside the home woke up to find it full of smoke. They said it appeared that one person wasn’t able to make it out.
