BRASILIA - With dark jeans pulled over an ankle monitor attached just hours earlier, Brazil's right-wing former President Jair Bolsonaro made clear on Friday that the humiliation of court-ordered restraints would not curb his role in global politics.

Brazilian President Lula da Silva launched a fiery attack on U.S. President Donald Trump, slamming his threat to impose 50% tariffs on Brazilian goods as “unacceptable blackmail.” The diplomatic clash erupted after Trump linked the tariffs to Brazil dropping legal charges against former president Jair Bolsonaro over his alleged coup attempt.
