Seemingly out of nowhere, Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding has been launched on Xbox Series X|S and Amazon Luma via publisher 505 Games. The game was once exclusive to PlayStation following significant support from Sony alongside collaboration with Guerilla Games via the Decima Engine. A PC release of the Director's Cut followed soon after.

"KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS will continue its focus on bringing their award-winning IP, “DEATH STRANDING” to more platforms and audiences. KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS also today confirmed that the studio now has full ownership of the DEATH STRANDING IP."

A few days later, Death Stranding shadow launched on Xbox and the Windows PC game store, with a time-limited sale price of $20. That's a bit shocking because, for the last five years, Death Stranding has been a PlayStation console exclusive.
