A robotic lunar lander built by Texas-based Firefly has successfully landed on the moon, becoming only the second private-sector company ever to complete such a feat.

Firefly Aerospace’s successful touchdown marks a new era of frequent commercial trips to the Moon, paving the way for a long-term human presence on the lunar surface. Before we get too ahead of ourselves, however, we’ve got the ongoing mission to attend to.

Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost lunar lander successfully made a soft touchdown near an ancient volcanic feature on the moon’s near side early Sunday morning.

The mission, aptly named “Ghost Riders in the Sky,” touched down in Mare Crisium, a large impact site filled with basaltic lava on the Moon. Blue Ghost pulled off a precision landing, touching down within a 328-foot (100-meter) target next to a volcanic feature called Mons Latreille.
