The CEO of a South Carolina research facility where dozens of monkeys escaped said the employee connected to the incident has not returned to work.

One monkey has been captured after 43 monkeys escaped from the Alpha Genesis research facility in South Carolina, the Yemassee Police Department said.

In Yemassee, officials have announced that 25 of the monkeys that escaped from a research and breeding facility have been returned. Eighteen still on the loose.

After 43 monkeys escaped from a South Carolina research facility this week, one has been recovered, the Yemassee Police Department announced Saturday. The animal was unharmed. A “sizeable group” remains active along the compound's fence line and bedded down in the trees, police in Yemassee, about 50 miles northeast of Savannah, Georgia, said in a statement.
