Kia announced that owners of new EV6 and EV9 delivered after September 4 will get a NACS adapter free of charge, whereas all others will have to pay for it

Since Tesla's NACS (North American Charging Standard) connection was made into a standard, other EV companies have been rushing to get an adapter out into the world so that their customers can use the various Supercharger locations available around the US.

Kia has announced that starting on January 15, 2024, its EV owners will gain access to over 16,500 Tesla Superchargers across the U.S.

It used to be that one of the major perks of Tesla ownership was access to the automaker's Supercharger network. That's still a perk, but Tesla opened up access to the network in Nov. 2022, and a growing number of vehicles have been able to top up -- Tesla's charger format has become universal in the form of NACS (the North American Charging Standard).

GM's NACS adapter is compatible with all of its EVs, which now gain access to nearly 18,000 Tesla Superchargers. The adapter costs $225 and can be purchased through the mobile app for each respective GM brand.

Kia America has announced that it will begin offering North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters for its electric vehicle models, including the EV6 and EV9, in early 2025. The purpose of these adapters is to increase the number of charging options available to Kia electric vehicle owners across the United States.

Owners who buy CCS-equipped Kia EVs after September 4, 2024, will be sent free adapters to allow them to use NACS fast-chargers in early 2025.
