Horror studio Blumhouse has acquired the rights to the "Saw" franchise that are currently held by producers Oren Koules and Mark Burg. Lionsgate continues to own 50% of the franchise.

Blumhouse already boasts its share of horror franchises like "Insidious" and "Five Nights at Freddy's", and now it will be adding "Saw" to its arsenal of scares. The company has acquired rights to all future "Saw" films, according to Variety.

In a statement, Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum said he was returning the franchise to series creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell, bringing them “back in the fold and to see the future of the franchise come to life with their guidance.
