Rain totals Thursday on the Treasure Coast were far less than had been predicted, with wind being the far bigger impact from Hurricane Helene.

As Hurricane Helene — now a Category 4 storm — moves toward Florida's Big Bend, the Treasure Coast is still feeling some light winds, with stronger gusts and isolated rainfall Thursday evening. The Treasure Coast saw tornado watches lifted for Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin counties at 8 p.m. by the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

A tornado warning was issued in Indian River County after a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Vero Beach Highland, or near Vero Beach South, moving north at 35 mph. The tornado warning will remain in effect until 9:30 a.m., stated NWS Melbourne.
