Uber Technologies Inc. is partnering with Chinese autonomous car company WeRide Inc. to expand its robotaxi offering to the United Arab Emirates.

WeRide received approval in July 2023 to test and operate an autonomous vehicle fleet on public roads across the UAE, and said it now runs the largest robotaxi fleet in the Arabian country.

Uber will add WeRide's robotaxi fleet to its pool of vehicles in the United Arab Emirates later this year, following a partnership with Alphabet's Waymo to bring self-driving rides to Austin, Atlanta in the U.

WeRide's first collaboration with a global ride-hailing platform will help the company expand its reach beyond China, while Uber takes another towards incorporating robotaxis into its platform. Uber expanded its partnership with Alphabet's Waymo to bring robotaxis to Austin and Atlanta in the United States earlier this month.
