WHITEWATER TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) - The investigation into the recent rail disaster west of Cincinnati, which led to a mass evacuation, has revealed that the release of styrene gas from a tanker car wasn't due to a faulty tanker car.

A rail car in the Cleves and Whitewater Township area began venting a hazardous chemical on Tuesday, prompting evacuations and the closure of roads and businesses in the area amid safety concerns.

A dangerous chemical leak near State Route 128 has prompted an evacuation order for people in the area, according to Hamilton County emergency management and fire officials. Hamilton County EMA states that per Whitewater Fire officials, a "dangerous chemical leak" has occurred near State Route 128 and U.S. 50.
