Another disaster emergency has been declared in western Colorado due to wildfires burning across the western half of the state.Late Monday night, Gov. Jared Polis verbally declared a disaster emergency to support efforts to bring the LeRoux Fire in Delta County under control.

The Leroux Fire has already burnt approximately 700 acres of private and BLM land. Firefighters from the Crawford-Hotchkiss Fire District, the BLM, the Forest Service and the National Park Service are battling the blaze.

Gov. Jared Polis declared a disaster emergency for the Elk Creek Fire, while evacuations have been ordered in some areas near the fire.
