As the U.S. government shutdown enters its 25th day, President Donald Trump is embarking on a trip to Asia, where he will meet Xi Jinping.

Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, bringing together leaders from 20 countries, including the United States and China, whose leaders are set to hold a high-stakes meeting on the sidelines.

In 1977, Sakie Yokota’s then-13-year-old daughter Megumi was abducted to North Korea from Japan’s northern coast on her way home from school. Yokota said she hopes for progress on the issue and thanked Trump for pledging his support.
