The Dallas Stars defeat the Winnipeg Jets in six games to reach the Western Conference finals for the third consecutive season.

Connor Hellebuyck made 22 saves and the Winnipeg Jets beat the Dallas Stars 4-0 on Thursday night to force a sixth game in the Western Conference semifinal series.

Prior to Thursday, Dallas had its way in the series. The Stars won Game 1 (3-2), Game 3 (5-2) and Game 4 (3-1), but both of their losses have been shutouts. In order to knock out Winnipeg for good, the Stars need to figure things out offensively. Dallas is too talented to have such a struggle scoring.

The Stars have responded emphatically after losses this year. Another such effort on Saturday would see them into the next round.

The Dallas Stars may just want to wrap up their second-round Western Conference series when they have a chance in Game 6, and not let Connor Hellebuyck and the Jets get another game in Winnipeg.

When the game ended, Jets teammates crowded around a clearly emotional Schiefele before the traditional post-series handshakes. During the handshake line, each Stars player took an extra few seconds with Scheifele to offer condolences.
