Conspiracy theories have emerged to claim the elections are being "stolen" from Republicans Sam Brown and Kari Lake.

Election Day was Tuesday in Arizona, and voters had a chance to fill one seat in the race for the state's U.S. Senate seat. Currently held by independent Kyrsten Sinema, the seat is a six-year term that overlaps current Sen.

U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego's lead over Kari Lake in the race for Arizona's open U.S. Senate seat continued to decrease as of Thursday night.

Arizona is notorious for its long wait times in tabulating and reporting votes, so it is unclear when the race will be called. Regardless of the result, Republicans have flipped control of the Senate with key victories in Montana, Ohio and West Virginia.

Representative Ruben Gallego, a Phoenix progressive, has a Harvard pedigree and combat experience in Iraq as a Marine. Kari Lake, a former TV anchor, lost the governor’s race in 2022 and falsely claimed that her Democratic opponent stole the election.

The state’s high court also rejected bids from Republicans Abe Hamadeh and Mark Finchem related to their own losses in statewide races over two years ago.
