Opening-game problems have become a symbol for LSU falling short. The 2025 opener against Clemson is a chance to "change the narrative."

Former LSU football coach Nick Saban is rumored to be interested in returning to the coaching profession after retiring in early 2024, and current LSU football coach Brian Kelly is a fan of the idea.

The LSU Tigers open the 2025 season with one of the most anticipated games of the entire season against the Clemson Tigers. Both teams are expected to be ranked inside the top-10 to start the year, giving the Tigers yet another ranked matchup in a season opener.

"We are in the best place that we've been in a number of years," Kelly told SiriusXM. "It's the first step. We're not at the end. I listen to some of our brothers over in the Big 12 complaining about where we are at. I was like, 'I don't think you should be complaining about anything.'"

The good news is that the wide receiver position looks pretty set in the short term (at least this year) thanks to the transfer of star wide receivers Barion Brown (Kentucky) and Nic Anderson (Oklahoma). However, both of those transfers, returning veteran Aaron Anderson, and a couple other LSU wide receivers might all be gone after this season.

LSU wide receiver Nic Anderson received medical treatment Friday night after involvement in a car accident, Tigers coach Brian Kelly told The Advocate at SEC Media Days. Anderson is not expected to miss significant time and will likely return to the practice field for the start of training camp.
