Czech President Petr Pavel has responded to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's outrage at his suggestion that Russia could retain temporary control over some Ukrainian territories after the war is over.

If Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presents a plan to end Russian aggression against his country, it must be evaluated, and everything possible should be done to achieve Kyiv's goals, but not at any cost.

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry on Sept. 24 reiterated that the full withdrawal of Russian troops from all occupied territories is necessary for a "just and lasting peace," after the president of Czechia said Kyiv should be "realistic" about achieving such a goal.
