In March 2024, Hospital Sisters Health System announced it was closing Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls.Nearly nine months later, Aspirus Health announced it is collaborating with Chippewa Falls Officials to build a new local hospital.

The proposed hospital would include emergency and inpatient beds, primary care, lab and imaging services, the health system said.

Aspirus Health, a Wisconsin-based health care provider, is collaborating with city officials to build a new hospital in Chippewa Falls which could be open in as little as 18 months.

Wausau-based Aspirus Health announced Thursday it plans to build a new hospital along the Highway 29 corridor in the southeast corner of Chippewa Falls. The hospital would
