Elon Musk’s team has descended on an already understaffed Social Security Administration, which now faces further workforce cuts and closures of vital local offices.

The acting head of the Social Security administration discussed DOGE's access at the agency as well as reports spurred by Elon Musk's comments about centenarians getting benefits.

Lee Dudek, the new acting commissioner of the Social Security Administration, said DOGE staffers won't be able make changes to agency systems or payments.

DOGE has limited "read only" access to data and will not disrupt or delay the disbursement of payments to beneficiaries, SSA Acting Commissioner Dudek said.
