As expected, Luka Doncic signed a maximum three-year, $165 million contract extension with the Lakers. The 26 year old carved out $5 million.

But until the deal was actually done, no one knew for sure what Luka Doncic was going to do. He was eligible, as of Saturday, to sign a four-year contract extension worth $222.4 million. But that's not what he did. Instead, per ESPN's Shams Charania, Doncic signed a three-year, $165 million deal with the Lakers that has a player option in 2028.

The Luka Doncic contract extension only makes it clearer that the Los Angeles Lakers are his team for now and the foreseeable future.
