British recycling firm Altilium and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) are gearing up to build and test battery cells manufactured using recycled materials from old electric vehicles. What Happened: This pilot project is designed to prove the viability of mass-producing recycled battery cells.

JLR has confirmed that its Halewood facility, which currently produces key models such as the Range Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport, will be the first of its plants to transition entirely to electric vehicle production.

JLR now plans to spend £18 billion over five years to introduce electric versions across all its model lines by the end of the decade.
