Alaska’s capital city averages a single thunderstorm every two years or so. Juneau is home to about 32,000 people and is known for its winter weather — less so for any thunder or lightning. But the city found itself under a rare severe thunderstorm warning, as the storm hit with strong winds gusting up to 60 mph.

The NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC released an updated severe thunderstorm warning at 8:12 p.m. on Tuesday in effect until 9:15 p.m. The warning is for Henderson, Polk and Transylvania counties.

JUNEAU, Alaska – Juneau, Alaska, received its first Severe Thunderstorm Warning in the city's history on Monday afternoon. The warning was issued by the National Weather Service office in Juneau at 3:26 p.m. local time as a supercell thunderstorm made its way over Alaska's capital city.

The storms with very heavy in parts of Siouxland will decrease in intensity Tuesday night, although rain chances will continue into Wednesday as a heatwave approaches for the weekend.

It was a sunny afternoon until the sky abruptly darkened, heavy rain came down and winds gusted up to 60 mph. A cruise ship docked downtown broke free of its mooring and drifted into the Gastineau Channel at the height of the storm.

Central Pennsylvania faces a significant weather risk on Wednesday with ongoing flash flood concerns and potential severe thunderstorms developing through the afternoon and evening.

Delhi is on yellow alert. The India Meteorological Department forecasts thunderstorms. Lightning and gusty winds are expected. Moderate rainfall is predicted. There is a chance of traffic disruptions.
