Broccoli packages sold at Walmart stores in 20 states have received an elevated recall status over a Listeria contamination that has potentially fatal consequences.

Walmart has recalled fresh broccoli florets due to listeria concerns, Google has reclassified the US as a 'sensitive country,' and Chipotle is giving away 50,000 free entrees during Super Bowl LIX.

A recall of bags of Braga Fresh broccoli florets has been revised and is now listed as a Class 1 recall, the highest level of risk the FDA issues.

In early January it was revealed that Walmart's washed and ready-to-eat 12 oz. Marketside Broccoli Florets were voluntarily recalled by Braga Fresh due to a possible contamination of Listeria monocytogenes. Although the item is no longer on shelves, consumers could still have bags in their freezer.

When the FDA upgrades a recall, it's time to check your fridge or freezer for that particular product. This broccoli now poses a more serious Listeria risk.
